Today, on November 19, 2020, a legal activity of the Aran Organization took place in Halabja, specifically addressing individuals who were deprived of employment opportunities due to political interference.
The legal clinic activity, conducted by the Aran Organization for Civil Culture Development with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy, aims to eliminate the phenomenon of "double employment." Double employment refers to government employees simultaneously working in the private sector alongside their government positions. This practice contradicts the Iraqi State Employee Discipline Law (قانون انظباط موظفين الدولة), consequently depriving thousands of educated and unemployed individuals in the Kurdistan Region of job opportunities.
In Halabja, we discussed with 26 young men and women, victims of political interference, and reached several shared understandings. The most prominent was to file a complaint with the public prosecutor to prevent government employees from working in the private sector. This measure could create thousands of job opportunities for the unemployed in the Kurdistan Region.
The activity was led by lawyer Sami Sati, who explained the legal bases for reclaiming these lost rights. In the future, the Aran Organization will file legal complaints in the courts of the Kurdistan Region and with the public prosecutor on behalf of the victims of political interference to restore their rights.
