On September 20, 2026, the ARAN Organization for the Promotion of Civil Culture, with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy, organized a meeting with a high-level committee of the Ministry of Health and a number of health workers in the private sector at the Ministry of Health's diwan in Erbil. This was after the Minister of Health, at the request of the ARAN organization, formed this high-level committee to follow up on violations of the rights of health workers in the private sector, who face a large number of violations in private health institutions.

In June of this year, the ARAN organization published an investigative report on the state of management of the health sector in the Kurdistan Region, part of which was devoted to violations against health workers in the private sector, according to which 79% of workers are subjected to violations. Also, at the end of July this year, the ARAN organization held a conference in Sulaymaniyah with the participation of officials of the Ministry of Health, the Health Workers Syndicate, Sulaymaniyah health officials, and a number of workers who have been subjected to violations. As a result of the information in the report and the recommendations of the conference, the Minister of Health formed a high-level committee to follow up on the problem. On Sunday, September 20, as a first step, the committee met with a number of private sector workers at the ministry's diwan, which the ARAN organization had prepared for the meeting. The complaints and problems of the workers were listened to carefully, and it was decided to hold another meeting in the coming days in the presence of the Health Workers Syndicate and the ARAN organization, after which the committee's recommendations will be submitted to the Minister of Health in a report.

The members of the committee, consisting of the director of private sector institutions, the director of nursing, and the director of legal affairs at the Ministry of Health's diwan, assured private sector health workers that the ministry will not allow health workers to be treated outside the law and regulations and their rights violated. They also pointed out that the ministry, in cooperation with the Kurdistan Health Workers Syndicate, will make every effort to issue necessary instructions that oblige private sector institutions not to commit violations against health workers and to treat them in accordance with the law and regulations.
