ERBIL — On December 21, 2025, a delegation from the Aran Organization for Developing Civil Culture met with a team from the World Health Organization (WHO) in Erbil. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Chimen Akreyi and focused on discussing "Health Democracy" and the current state of the healthcare sector in the Kurdistan Region.
During the meeting, the Aran Organization presented a detailed overview of its activities regarding the monitoring and oversight of the healthcare sector in the Kurdistan Region. As an organization specialized in the field of Health Democracy, Aran highlighted its commitment to transparency by publishing two comprehensive investigative reports annually. These reports scrutinize the management of the health sector and evaluate the quality of services provided to the public.
The organization emphasized its primary objectives, which include:

Ensuring that healthcare services in the Kurdistan Region are delivered in accordance with the Iraqi Constitution and applicable laws.

Working toward the total eradication of corruption within the health sector.

Advocating for the full implementation of WHO standards and principles in the administration of healthcare across the region.
The WHO delegation expressed its appreciation for the meeting and the vital role played by the Aran Organization. The WHO team pledged to review and act upon the findings of Aran’s investigative reports. Furthermore, both parties reached an agreement to foster future cooperation and launch joint initiatives aimed at developing and enhancing the healthcare sector in the Kurdistan Region.
