On April 5, 2023, Aran Organization visited the Independent Commission for Human Rights of the Kurdistan Region to discuss the health sector and its relation to human rights in the region.
During the visit, Aran’s staff met with Dr. Muna Yaqo, the Head of the Independent Commission for Human Rights of the Kurdistan Region. The discussion centered on the findings of a survey report published by Aran Organization in 2022, which analyzed the health sector in the Kurdistan Region and highlighted key human rights concerns.
In March 2023, the Independent Commission for Human Rights had also prepared a report on the health sector. Both organizations exchanged insights from their respective reports and deliberated on strategies to strengthen the health sector as a fundamental human right. They emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration to ensure better outcomes in this vital area.
Additionally, Aran Organization’s team met with Mr. Faizullah Mohammed, an advisor at the Commission and the head of the committee responsible for preparing its health sector report. Both entities agreed to work together to achieve tangible improvements and to protect and promote human rights in the Kurdistan Region.
This meeting underscored the shared commitment of Aran Organization and the Independent Commission for Human Rights to address the challenges facing the health sector and to advocate for its recognition as a cornerstone of human rights.
